Liverpool FC are ready to hand Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain a new contract following the midfielder’s return from injury, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the midfielder is preparing to sign a new 12-month extension to keep him at Anfield until 2023.
The report comes just days after the 25-year-old England midfielder made his return to action following a long-term knee injury.
Oxlade-Chamberlain made his return to action last Friday night in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the Premier League at Anfield.
The same article says that the move to offer Oxlade-Chamberlain a new Contract is a “strong show of faith and a classy gesture” from Liverpool FC given that he has spent most of this season on the sidelines.
The story also says that Liverpool FC will now include Oxlade-Chamberlain in the squad to travel to FC Barcelona for the first leg of their crunch semi-final clash at Camp Nou on Wednesday night.
Oxlade-Chamberlain will also be hoping to make another appearance for Liverpool FC when the Reds return to Premier League action on Saturday night with a trip to Newcastle United.
The Reds are currently a point behind Manchester City in the title race with two games left to play.
