Sky Sports pundit tells Eden Hazard to leave Chelsea FC

Graeme Souness believes that Eden Hazard needs a “fresh challenge” and has urged the Chelsea FC star to move to Real Madrid this summer.

The Belgian playmaker is widely regarded as one of world football’s top attacking talents and he has been in solid form for Chelsea FC this season despite their inconsistent displays under Maurizio Sarri.

Hazard has scored 16 goals and made 12 assists in the Premier League for the Blues so far this season and he will be hoping to fire the Blues to a top-four finish in the English top flight.

The 28-year-old has long been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid and that speculation has heightened in recent weeks after the Spanish giants re-appointed Zinedine Zidane as their manager.

Hazard will have only one year left on his contract at Chelsea FC at the end of the season, meaning that the Blues could risk losing him on a free transfer next summer.

And former Liverpool FC star Souness seems to think that Hazard would be wise to consider a move to Real Madrid this summer.

Writing in his column for The Sunday Times, Souness said: “Eden needs the fresh challenge of moving to Real Madrid this summer.

“I know Chelsea’s fans won’t thank me for saying so and we’ll all miss watching the player who’s probably been the best in the Premier League over the past three or four seasons, but there’s more to come from Hazard and it’s now or never for him to prove that.

“He needs to be extended and pushed because he’s capable of going to another level, where he scores 30-plus goals a season.”

Sky Sports pundit Souness continued: “Where will Chelsea be without him? To lose him would be a huge blow because he’s their one outstanding talent.

“The word is he’s a really good lad, but he can be accused of getting in his armchair a bit during games and drifting out of them. That’s why it’s now or never.

“He needs to be in a more challenging environment. He has been fabulous for Chelsea but needs to be pushed, by himself or the environment he’s in, to go to the next level.

“Moving to Real Madrid can bring that out of him.”

Hazard will be expecting to feature for Chelsea FC when the Blues host Slavia Prague in the return leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie on Thursday night.
