Charlie Nicholas has urged Arsenal manager Unai Emery to sell Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Laurent Koscielny.
The Gunners are in a season of transition under Arsene Wenger’s replacement after Unai Emery took over the reins in the summer.
Arsenal made a strong start to the Premier League season but the north London side have started to waiver over the past month.
Ozil has struggled to secure a place in the Arsenal team to raise questions about his long-term future at the north London side.
Emery has only started Ozil in 12 of their 22 games this season, despite the German being the best-paid player at the club.
Arsenal have struggled defensively as Emery looks to tackle what has been a problem issue for the Gunners in recent seasons.
Mustafi continues to be an erratic member of the Arsenal team, while Koscielny has only just returned from a long-term injury.
Former Gunners playmaker Nicholas urged Arsenal to act decisively and get rid of Ozil, Koscielny and Mustafi.
“I have accepted Arsenal are not going to get fourth, but the defensive struggles are there. Shokdran Mustafi should be sold on and Laurent Koscielny should be released,” Nicholas told Sky Sports.
“I think they should get rid of Ozil. It is the people running the club who gave him the wage, but it looks silly letting Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere go.
“Hopefully Juventus will take Ramsey immediately and Arsenal get some money for him. Ozil does not fit Emery’s plans, so you get the agent in and look for him to go elsewhere.”
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on Champions League football for the second successive season.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 and Arsenal have significant ground to make up on defending champions Manchester City.
