Jamie Redknapp has claimed that Mohamed Salah is at his most effective playing in a central role in the Liverpool FC team.
The Egypt international has been utilised in a number of different positions over the course of the Premier League season so far, scoring 10 goals in 16 top-flight games.
Jurgen Klopp started Salah on the left side of his attack throughout much of the 2017-18 season, but the German head coach has used the PFA player of the year in a more central position this term.
Salah’s form has been the subject of scrutiny in the opening few months of the campaign and many pundits have suggested that the Liverpool FC forward was a one-season wonder.
The 26-year-old scored a hat-trick in Liverpool FC’s 4-0 win against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium last weekend to lead the goal-scoring charts alongside Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes Salah’s best position in the Reds team is playing as a centre-forward.
“There have been questions over where his best position is. Do you play him down the middle or do you play him our wide? I think today [against Bournemouth last weekend] you saw the real benefits of playing him in a central position,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“The problems he causes defenders, running on the shoulder, the third goal epitomised that. I thought Liverpool were very comfortable and it shows the strength of the squad they have.”
Salah scored 44 times in all competitions last season to finish as Liverpool FC’s leading scoring in the 2017-18 campaign.
Liverpool FC signed Salah in a £39m deal from AS Roma in the 2017 summer transfer window, even though he had struggled during a stint at Chelsea FC in 2014.
