Paul Pogba comments on his relationship with Man United boss Jose Mourinho

Paul Pogba was coy when responding to questions about his relationship with maligned Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Pogba and Mourinho have been under intense scrutiny over United’s stuttering start to the season which has seen them lose twice in four games.

Rumours of Pogba’s imminent departure to Barcelona are taking hold, and Pogba hardly moved to reassure United fans the manager/player relationship was positive.

“We have a pure coach-player relationship, that’s right,” he told Sky Sports Germany.

Pogba’s cryptic answer will only lead to further rumours about where his future lies, while it will ramp up the pressure on Mourinho who has a reputation for losing dressing rooms.

Mourinho led United back into the Champions League in his first season with United by way of winning the 2017 edition of the Europa League, triumphing 2-0 in the final over Ajax.

He then led them to a second placed finish last season, finishing ahead of the revered Liverpool team which captured the imagination of world football.

However, after a lengthy summer spat with United’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward, has led to the familiar side of Mourinho who ostensibly vindictively refuses to lessen his grip on power.

Press conferences and poor results in recent weeks have added only added to the turmoil at United.

With no insight into how he operates behind closed doors, most people are assuming Mourinho has lost the respect of his players.

Losing Pogba could write Mourinho’s death sentence, and the Frenchman’s comments will certainly not abate problems.
