Matteo Guendouzi is perfectly suited to Arsenal’s style of play under Unai Emery, Ian Wright has claimed.
Arsenal signed the French teenager in a reported £8m deal from Ligue 1 side Lorient in the summer transfer window.
The 19-year-old started their 2-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester City at The Emirates.
The Gunners starlet secured the backing of his manager after Emery started Arsenal’s 3-2 loss to Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge.
Guendouzi helped the Gunners to secure their first Premier League win under Emery following a 3-1 victory over West Ham on Saturday.
The teenager injected dynamism into the Arsenal team despite being a little rough around the edges.
Former Arsenal striker Wright is impressed with Guendouzi’s performances in the early stages of his Arsenal career.
“Guendouzi is suited,” Wright told Sky Sports. “He wins the ball and keeps it. He tries to set off attacks with it.”
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when the Gunners finished the season unbeaten.
Arsenal have finished outside the top four in the last two seasons under Arsene Wenger to miss out on Champions League football.
Emery signed five new players in the summer transfer window to bolster the Arsenal squad.
