Dennis Wise believes that Liverpool FC will be capable of challenging Manchester City for the Premier League title next season.
The Reds will be aiming to be one of the main contenders for the title next season after they finished in fourth place and without a trophy last term.
Liverpool FC earned plenty of praise for their strong performances under Jurgen Klopp last term as they ended up sealing Champions League qualification.
The Merseyside outfit also produced some brilliant displays in Europe as they reached the Champions League final, before losing 3-1 to Real Madrid in Kiev.
And former Chelsea FC star Wise seems to feel that Liverpool FC will be among the main contenders for the Premier League title next season as they look to wrestle the trophy away from Manchester City’s grip.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Wise said: “I think this is the team [to challenge City]. I really do.
“They showed glimpses of it last year. They finished fourth, but they also got to the final of the Champions League.
“It’s time for Klopp to step up to the plate,” Wise said. “He’s spent £178m on players he’s bought in. He’s filled gaps that needed to be filled.
“He’s got an awesome three up front. Mohamed Salah has got to do it again. With a little bit of help from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
“They’ve added a bit of quality with Xherdan Shaqiri. But, they’ve bought in Alisson Becker. That was important.”
Liverpool FC have been relatively busy in the summer transfer window, signing Naby Keita, Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri and Alisson Becker.
It remains to be seen if they will bring in any more new faces before the transfer window closes on 9 August.
The Reds are still aiming to win their first trophy since Klopp was appointed at Anfield back in October 2015 as Brendan Rodgers’ successor.
