Mesut Ozil sends open message to Arsenal supporters

Mesut Ozil has taken to social media to thank Arsenal’s fans for their support this week.

Ozil has been in the headlines in the last few days after he retired from international duty with Germany in controversial circumstances following their exit at the group stage of the World Cup.

The playmaker has since linked up with the Arsenal squad to being his pre-season preparations under new manager Unai Emery.

Ozil was an unused substitute as Arsenal lost to Atletico Madrid on penalties at the International Champions Cup in Singapore on Thursday night.

However, the 29-year-old was clearly happy to be back on club duty, as he posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Thanks to the Gunners in Singapore for showing so much love tonight #M1Ö #COYG #YaGunnersYa @arsenal”

Arsenal are currently gearing up for life under new boss Emery following his appointment at The Emirates back in May.

The north London side will be aiming to at least challenge for a top-four place in the Premier League next season after the Gunners ended up sixth place and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign at the club last term.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2004.
