Manchester United and Liverpool FC are both lining up bids to sign Wigan teenager Joe Gelhardt, according to reports in the British media.
ESPN, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that both the Reds and the Red Devils are interested in signing the 16-year-old talent this summer.
According to the same story, the teenager has been attracting interest from a host of English clubs in recent months.
Manchester United and Liverpool FC are said to have been keeping a close eye on the striker’s development at Wigan, and both clubs are now ready to submit official bids to try and sign him.
Gelhardt is a regular fixture in Wigan’s Under-18 team and has also already represented England at both U15 and U16 level.
Both Liverpool FC and Manchester United are on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to mount serious title challenges next season.
Manchester United finished second and without a trophy last term, while Liverpool FC also ended up without any silverware after they finished fourth and were beaten by Real Madrid in the Champions League final.
Manchester United signed Fred and Diogo Dalot last week, while Liverpool FC have tied up a deal for Brazilian midfielder Fabinho.
