Mark Lawrenson predicts Tottenham v Leicester

Mark Lawrenson is backing Tottenham to seal a 2-0 win over Leicester City in their game of the season in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs secured their place in the top four in midweek when they claimed a 1-0 win over Newcastle United at Wembley to book their spot in the Champions League for next season.

Tottenham are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they look to finish behind champions Manchester City and runners-up Manchester United.

And former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson is tipping the Lilywhites to end their season on a positive note with a comfortable win over the Magpies at Wembley this weekend.

Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “Leicester are another club where we do not know whether the manager will stay in his job at the end of the season.

“There are 10 Premier League sides whose manager is either definitely leaving, on a short-term contract that ends this summer, or faces an uncertain future because of poor results or relegation: Arsenal, Chelsea, Everton, Leicester, Southampton, Stoke, Swansea, Watford, West Brom and West Ham.

“If you count Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez, who may decide he wants to leave if he is not backed financially, and Huddersfield boss David Wagner, who is being touted as a potential replacement for Foxes boss Claude Puel, then that figure is 12 managers who could be leaving out of 20 top-flight clubs.

“That is what the Premier League is like these days, with such a high turnover of managers. It seems a lot of clubs are making a decision almost day-by-day – there is no forward-thinking going on.

“If Puel needs to win to keep his job, then I don’t think that will happen.

“I am backing Tottenham to win, and Harry Kane to score – he got a hat-trick on the final day of last season.”

Tottenham are still looking to win their first trophy under Mauricio Pochettino, with the Lilywhites having been beaten in the FA Cup semi-finals by Manchester United last month.

The Lilywhites will be looking to make a number of signings in the summer transfer window as they look to try and challenge for the title next term.

The north London side will be moving back to the newly developed White Hart Lane next season after having played their home games at Wembley this season.
