Frank Lampard admits he has been impressed with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s improvement at Liverpool FC over the past couple of months.
The Reds signed the England international in a £35m deal from Arsenal on transfer deadline day in the 2017 summer transfer window.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was used sparingly in the opening months of his Liverpool FC career but the 24-year-old has earned a place in Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The versatile midfielder has been used as part of a midfield three in Jurgen Klopp’s impressive Liverpool FC team.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has scored three times and has made seven assists in 22 games in the Premier League so far this term.
The England star netted in Liverpool FC’s 3-0 win against Premier League champions Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has netted two goals in six fixtures in Europe since his move to the Anfield outfit from Arsenal at the start of the campaign.
Former Chelsea FC star Lampard has been impressed with Oxlade-Chamberlain’s performances for Liverpool FC.
“He has been brilliant in the last six weeks in particular,” Lampard told BT Sport.
“We all know the natural raw talent has always been there, but what has impressed me the most is that he has shown the discipline you need to play in midfield.
“There are a lot of different decisions to make when you move from being a wide player as Oxlade-Chamberlain has done to further inside. You can’t dribble and take as many touches like before.
“He has managed to learn that side of the game and become an integral part of the Liverpool team. There is no doubt he deserves a lot of credit. When you publicly say you’re looking to change positions, it is easy to attract doubters and cynics.”
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table and three points adrift of Manchester United in the race to finish behind newly crowned English champions Manchester City this season.
