Luis Garcia is tipping Roberto Firmino – and not Mohamed Salah – to score first for Liverpool FC against AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.
Liverpool will make their tenth appearance in the last four of the European Cup but the Reds haven’t got this far in the Champions League since 2007/08 when Rafael Benitez’s side lost to Chelsea FC.
The Merseyside outfit were 5-1 winners against Premier League champions Manchester City in the quarter-final thanks to a resounding 3-0 victory at Anfield courtesy of goals from Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Firmino.
The Brazil international scored the winner in Liverpool FC’s 2-1 victory over Manchester City at The Etihad after Salah cancelled out Gabriel Jesus’ oepener in the second leg of the quarter-final.
Firmino is enjoying his best season at Liverpool FC since his £29m move from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim in the 2015 summer transfer window.
The South American forward has scored 24 times in 38 games in all competitions in the 2017-18 season.
Former Liverpool FC star Garcia, who was part of Rafael Benitez’s side that won the Champions League in 2005, believes Firmino will break the deadlock in the Champions League semi-final.
“The first goalscorer is going to be Roberto Firmino, he is a dangerous player,” Garcia told BetStars.
Liverpool FC are in third place in the Premier League table.
