Ian Wright makes honest admission about Arsenal

Ian Wright has admitted that he doesn’t recognise Arsenal any more.

The Gunners have endured a disappointing 2017-18 season to heap further pressure on Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal suffered a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United at St James’ Park last weekend despite Alexandre Lacazette making the breakthrough.

Indeed, Wenger’s men have only managed to win three of their 16 games on the road in the Premier League in the current campaign.

The north London side lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the League Cup final before the Gunners exited in the FA Cup third round.

Arsenal could still win the Europa League if Wenger’s side manage to beat La Liga giants Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals.

The Gunners will qualify for the Champions League if Arsenal are able to get their hands on the Europa League trophy.

Former Arsenal striker Wright delivered his downbeat verdict on the Gunners following another inconsistent season.

“Arsenal aren’t even playing a brand of football that is recognisable to us anymore,” Wright told Sky Sports.

“We give the ball awauy a lot. Defensively we are all over the place. If you are organised and keep it tight, you can catch Arsenal out.

“There are too many ball watching. You can catch them out. There is a lot of work to get them back to where they are.”

Arsenal signed Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford in January.

The Gunners paid a club record £56m fee for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on January transfer deadline day.
