Alexis Sanchez has admitted that Arsene Wenger helped him to develop into a much better player during his time at Arsenal.
The Frenchman is set to call time on his long career at The Emirates at the end of the season, bringing to an end a 22-year-old spell at the North London Club.
Wenger announced that he is to step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season after the Gunners’ recent struggles in the Premier League.
The north London side have not won the title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04, and they are currently in sixth place in the table.
Sanchez left Arsenal to sign for Manchester United in the January transfer window after having joined the Gunners from FC Barcelona in the summer of 2014.
And the 29-year-old Chile international has opened up about how Wenger helped him to develop his game during his time at the north London club.
Asked whether Wenger made him a better player following his move from FC Barcelona, Sanchez is quoted as saying by Metro: “Yes a lot, he is a true gentleman.”
Arsenal will return to Europa League action on Sunday when they take on Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final clash at The Emirates.
