Jurgen Klopp warned Liverpool FC need signings to challenge for the title

Pat Nevin believes Liverpool FC’s ability to challenge for the title next season will depend upon Jurgen Klopp’s summer signings.

The Reds have made some good progress in the Premier League this season under the German head coach.

Liverpool FC ended up in fourth place in the English top flight last term to secure a place in the Champions League this season.

The Merseyside outfit are currently in third place and seven points ahead of Chelsea FC, who are outside the top four spots.

Liverpool FC were 5-1 aggregate winners against Premier League champions Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final.

The Reds were the first team to beat Pep Guardiola’s side thanks to a 4-3 victory at Anfield back in February.

Virgil van Dijk’s January arrival in a £75m deal from Southampton has undoubtedly improved the Liverpool FC team.

Former Chelsea FC striker Nevin believes Klopp will need to invest well in the transfer market if Liverpool FC are to challenge for the title.

“It comes down to what Klopp adds,” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.

“There is some Coutinho money there. It is an opportunity [to get some players].”

Liverpool FC will take on Serie A giants AS Roma in the Champions League semi-final on Tuesdsay.

The Reds are in third place in the Premier League table and a point adrift of Manchester United in the race to finish as runners up.
