Craig Bellamy explains why Man United star David De Gea doesn’t deserve PFA award

Ederson has been the Premier League’s best goalkeeper this season ahead of David De Gea, according to Craig Bellamy.

The Manchester United number one made it into the PFA team of the year ahead of his Manchester City rival.

The Red Devils have the best defensive record in the Premier League after conceding one goal less than the Citizens.

However, Ederson helped Manchester City to win the Premier League title in his first season at the Etihad Stadium.

The Brazil international moved to Ederson from Benfica in a £35m deal in the 2017 summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old made 33 appearances in their Premier League title-winning campaign.

Former Liverpool FC striker Bellamy believes Ederson merits a place in the PFA team of the year ahead of De Gea.

“De Gea is an outstanding goalkeeper,” Bellamy told Sky Sports.

“I love him but I have to go for Ederson, He has transformed Man City. He has given them a new dimension.”

Manchester City lost 5-1 on aggregate to Liverpool FC in the Champions League round of 16 earlier this month.

The Citizens are 13 points ahead of Manchester United following a one-sided title race.

De Gea has been linked with a potential move to La Liga giants Real Madrid over the past two or three seasons.
