Arsenal lead Liverpool FC in race to sign quality 18-year-old German starlet – report

Arsenal are leading Liverpool FC in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz, according to reports in the British media.

The Sun is reporting that the north London side sent scouts to watch the 18-year-old in action during Germany Under-19’s 5-2 loss to Norway last week.

The same report says that Arsenal are currently ahead of both Liverpool FC and Southampton in the race to land the teenager in the summer transfer window.

According to the same report, Arsenal have seen enough and are now ready to try and make a move to lure Havertz away from his boyhood club at the end of the season.

The attacking midfielder is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in the Bundesliga and he has made six assists and scored two goals in 24 league appearances for the German side so far this season.

Arsenal are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to revamp his squad following what has been a disastrous Premier League campaign.

The Gunners are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and look set to miss out on a top four finish for the second season running under Wenger after their fifth-placed finish last term.
