Alan Shearer singled out both Willian and Alvaro Morata for special praise following the pair’s performances for Chelsea FC their 2-1 FA Cup quarter-final win over Leicester City on Sunday.
Morata was restored to the starting line-up for the cup clash by Antonio Conte after what has been a difficult spell for the Spanish striker.
The 25-year-old had failed to net in all competitions since Boxing Day after struggling for form and fitness but he looked sharp against the Foxes on Sunday afternoon.
Morata gave Chelsea FC the lead in the 42nd minute of the FA Cup quarter-final clash at the King Power Stadium on Sunday with a cool finish after being put through on goal by the talented Willian.
However, Jamie Vardy equalised for the home side in the second half to force the tie to extra-time.
Substitute Pedro Rodriguez then came off the bench to head Chelsea FC back into the lead in the first half of extra-time and book their place in the semi-finals.
Willian has been in top form for the Blues this season and former England star Shearer was particularly impressed by both him and Morata during Sunday’s clash.
Speaking during BBC Sport‘s coverage of the game, Shearer said: “He’s so so good, Willian, when he gets the ball at his feet.
“He shifts it just one or two yards to the right hand side of him and it’s almost impossible for someone to stop him.
“It’s a brilliant ball into Morata and a hell of a finish. It’s clever, he just lifts it above the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action after the international break when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in a crunch top four clash.
The Blues are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table as they chase Champions League qualification for next season.
