Wayne Rooney: What I really think about Chelsea FC after Watford loss

Wayne Rooney has claimed that Chelsea FC were “not recognisable” from their usual selves following their 4-1 loss to Watford in the Premier League on Monday night.

The Blues were reduced to 10 men in the first half when Tiemoue Bakayoko was sent off for two bookable offences.

And Antonio Conte’s men ended up being thrashed at Vicarage Road as they slumped to their second successive defeat following their 3-0 loss to Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge last week.

The result dealt a serious blow to Chelsea FC’s top four hopes, with the Blues currently in fourth place in the Premier League table but just one point ahead of fifth-placed Tottenham.

And Everton striker Rooney feels that the Blues did not look like themselves against Watford on Monday night.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football, Rooney said: “There was a lack of conviction and a lack of energy.

“You don’t really associate Chelsea with that. They were not really recognisable to the Chelsea team you’d normally see.”

Chelsea FC must now dust themselves down as they look to try and return to winning ways when they take on West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge next Monday night.

Their performances in recent weeks have been a far cry from their impressive displays as they won the Premier League title in style under Conte in his first campaign in charge last season.
