Paul Merson states his prediction for Swansea v Arsenal

Paul Merson is tipping Arsenal to avoid a potential upset and secure three points at Swansea City on Tuesday night.

The Gunners were 4-1 winners against Crystal Palace in their last Premier League outing before the FA Cup action last weekend.

Arsenal didn’t feature following a 4-2 loss to Nottingham Forest in the third round prematurely ended their defence of the trophy.

The north London side have a poor record on the road in the Premier League this season following three victories in 12 away games.

Indeed, the Gunners lost 2-1 to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium to take their tally to five away defeats this term.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson is confident that the Gunners will manage to beat Swansea with the addition of Henrikh Mkhitaryan to their team.

“Arsenal head to Swansea, hoping to succeed where Liverpool failed just over a week ago at the Liberty Stadium,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“Swansea will play in exactly the same way as they did against Liverpool. They’ll defend in numbers but for me, Arsenal have got a bit more guile than Liverpool.

“They’ll create more chances than Liverpool did and that will be the difference.”

Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and five points behind Liverpool FC, who occupy the final Champions League spot.

The Gunners signed Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in a swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez move to the Red Devils.

The north London side haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04, although Arsenal have lifted the FA Cup trophy in three of the past four seasons.
