Chelsea FC could announce a deal to sign Emerson Palmieri from Roma as early as Monday, according to reports in Italy.
Italian sports newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the Blues are on the verge of being able to unveil the 23-year-old defender as their latest signing.
The full-back has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent days and it has been suggested that he could be included as part of the Deal to also sign Edin Dzeko from the Italian outfit.
The same report says that Emerson could be confirmed as a Chelsea FC player later today after an agreement with Roma was reached last week.
It had been hoped by the Blues that they would be able to swiftly conclude a deal for both Emerson and Dzeko, but after they struggled to convince the striker to sign, they moved quickly to at least tie up a deal for the defender, according to the story.
Chelsea FC have already been busy in the January transfer window after tying up a deal to sign Ross Barkley from Everton at the start of the month.
The west London side will host Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, before the 11pm transfer deadline on the same day.
