Glenn Hoddle singled out Pedro Rodriguez for special praise after he helped to inspire Chelsea FC through to the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-0 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday.
Michy Batshuayi scored twice in the first half to put the Blues in control, before Marcos Alonso added a third in the 72nd minute to book the West London side’s place in the fifth round.
Pedro was in impressive form for the home side and played a part in both goals for the Blues as he played 81 minutes at Stamford Bridge.
And former Tottenham Hotspur boss Hoddle was impressed with what he saw from the Spaniard as the west London side bounced back from their defeat by Arsenal in the League Cup last weekend.
Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Hoddle said: “It was absolute quality [for the first goal]. Pedro was allowed to turn – it’s a wonderful bit of play – he turns, looks up and what a pass.
“[Eden] Hazard just picks a pass and there’s Batshuayi to the put the ball in the net.”
Chelsea FC will now turn their attentions back towards Premier League affairs and their home clash against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The west London side are currently in third place in the Premier League table as they bid to try and close the gap to the two Manchester clubs at the top of the pile.
