Jamie Redknapp has tipped Antonio Conte to leave Chelsea at the end of the season.
The Blues lost 2-1 to Arsenal in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The west London side have only managed to win one of their last six games in all competitions to heap pressure on Italian coach Conte.
The Chelsea manager has been openly critical of the club’s transfer policy since taking over the reins at Stamford Bridge in 2016.
The Blues signed England international Ross Barkley in a cut-price £15m deal from Everton in the January transfer window.
However, speculation suggests that Conte wasn’t behind Barkley’s signing despite handing the attacker his debut at Arsenal.
Chelsea are 15 points adrift of current leaders Manchester City despite winning the title with seven points to spare under Conte last term.
Former Liverpool and Tottenham captain Redknapp believes Conte will leave Chelsea at the end of the 2017-18 season.
“I do [think he’ll leave] and it’s just typical what happens at Chelsea,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“A manager does a great job and then for one reason or another, they find a way to undermine him by maybe not bringing in the players that he wants.
“He looks a very unhappy figure and even in midweek, I thought it was a very tepid performance from them. I was expecting something special. They were a bit unfortunate and I think when Willian went off, it affected the flow of the game and it brought Arsenal back into it because their movement was really good.”
Chelsea will take on La Liga giants Barcelona in the Champions League last 16 next month.
The Blues will take on Newcastle United in the FA Cup fourth round at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Conte has never won the Champions League crown but the Blues lifted the trophy in 2012.
