Jamie Carragher is backing Chelsea to pip Manchester United to a second-place finish in the Premier League table this season.
The defending Premier League champions played out a 2-2 draw with top-six rivals Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Blues equalised in the second half when Eden Hazard scored from the penalty spot to cancel out Jack Wilshere’s opener in north London.
Spanish defender Marcos Alonso edged the west London side into an 84th-minute lead with his sixth Premier League goal of the campaign before Hector Bellerin levelled in the second minute of added time.
Title holders Chelsea are in third place in the Premier League Table but only a point behind Manchester United in the race to secure runners-up spot behind runaway leaders Manchester City.
The Blues have won the Premier League title in two of the past three seasons, while Manchester United have finished in fourth, fifth and sixth in the last three top-flight campaigns.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher is backing Chelsea to finish in second place ahead of Manchester United in the Premier League table this term.
Asked who will finish in second place, Carragher told Sky Sports: “Chelsea.
“It all depends on how far they go in cup competitions. These things will play a part. I just think Chelsea have got the edge on Manchester United.”
Chelsea signed six players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of a return to the Champions League.
