Mesut Ozil has appeared to indicate that he would be willing to sign a new contract at Arsenal by insisting that he is “proud” to represent the north London club.
The Germany international’s future at the north London side has been a relentless source of speculation along with Alexis Sanchez after both players entered into the final few months of their contracts at The Emirates.
Ozil had previously indicated at the start of the season that he was keen to sign a new deal with the north London side but that move has not yet materialised.
There is sure to be plenty more speculation about Ozil’s future in the next few days as the January transfer window gets into full swing.
However, it seems that the 29-year-old World Cup winner is clearly a big fan of the North London Club.
Asked why he joined Arsenal at a mock press conference with children last week, Ozil replied: “Because of the history and the amazing players.
“I’m here to learn, to grow up and to show my talent for this club.
“This club has made me bigger. I’m so proud to play for a big club like Arsenal.”
Ozil could feature for Arsenal when the Gunners return to action with an FA Cup third-round tie against Nottingham Forest.
The Gunners are aiming to at least break back into the top four this season after the disappointment of their fifth-placed finish last term as they had to settle for Europa League football.
