Manchester United will only sign 2018 summer targets in the January transfer window, Dharmesh Sheth says.
The Red Devils have been linked with a potential move to sign Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil next month.
The Gunners midfielder has little over six months remaining on his current Arsenal deal to throw up the possibility of a free transfer next summer.
The 29-year-old could also leave in a cut-price deal in January if Arsenal look to avoid losing Ozil for nothing at the end of the season.
Manchester United have been touted with an interest in Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka, who could also be available on a free transfer next summer.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth believes Manchester United will only sign long-term targets in the January transfer window, ruling out any spontaneous purchases.
“Man United will only move for players who become available who they want to sign next summer,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast on Sky Sports.
“So that could be Goretzka or Griezmann.”
Mourinho has signed Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly last year.
The Manchester United boss snapped up Romelu Lukaku, Victor Lindelof and Nemanja Matic in the 2017 summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have drawn their last three Premier Leagur games with Burnley, Leicester City and Southampton to drop down to third place in the table.
