Jamie Carragher reflected on Liverpool FC’s “simply lovely” 2-1 injury-time win at Burnley on New Year’s Day.
The Merseyside outfit were looking to extend their winning run to three games following a 5-0 win against Swansea City on Boxing Day before a 2-1 victory over Leicester City at Anfield.
Liverpool FC made seven changes for their trip to Turf Moor as Jurgen Klopp looked to rotate his squad to keep his squad fresh ahead of the second half of the Premier League season.
Sadio Mane broke the deadlock in the absence of Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah after the Senegal international collected a loose ball and fired past Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.
However, Burnley appeared to have rescued a point with a last-gasp equaliser after Johann Berg Gudmundsson finished from close range after capitalising on some poor defending from Joe Gomez.
Liverpool FC, secured three points thanks to Ragnar Klavan’s winner in the fourth minute of injury time after Dejan Lovren managed to deflect the ball into the Estonia international’s path.
Former Reds defender Carragher couldn’t hide his delight on Twitter at Klavan’s dramatic winner.
Carragher wrote on Twitter: “Everton v Man Utd for me from 5:15! As I was walking to the commentary box I had to go through Everton & United fans just as the Klavan goal flashed up on screen!!!! Simply lovely!!!!!!”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a return to the Champions League.
