Andreas Christensen has insisted that he is already relishing Chelsea’s crunch Champions League showdown against Barcelona in the new year.
The Blues were pitted against the Spanish champions after the draw for the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition was made earlier this month.
Christensen will be hoping to continue his fine form for Chelsea this season and hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge until that clash.
The young Danish defender has been earning rave reviews from manager Antonio Conte since breaking into the first team at Stamford Bridge this season following back to back loan spells at Borussia Monchengladbach.
And Christensen has insisted that he is already getting excited about Chelsea’s Crunch Champions League clash with Barcelona in the new year.
Speaking in an interview with Chelsea’s website, Christensen said: “I’m looking forward to it, those big games are always fun to be a part of.
“I played against Barcelona in the Champions League last season while I was on loan at Monchengladbach and in the first game we were unlucky, we were 1-0 up until the last 10 minutes when they scored twice.
“The away game was more difficult and we lost 4-0, the Nou Camp is a hard place to go but I’m really looking forward to it.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action on Boxing Day when they host Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
The west London side will be aiming to climb the Premier League table between now and the end of the season as they look to try and at least finish in the top four in Conte’s second campaign in charge at the club.
