Ethan Ampadu has admitted that Cesar Azpilicueta has been leading by example at Chelsea for him this season.
The 17-year-old defender has been earning rave reviews for his performances for Chelsea so far this season after having joined the west London side from Exeter City in the summer transfer window.
Ampadu put in another sparkling performance for Chelsea as helped the Blues book their place in the semi-finals of the League Cup by beating Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
The youngster has plenty of talented defenders to look up to at Stamford Bridge, with Azpilicueta widely regarded as one of the division’s most talented full-backs.
And Ampadu has admitted that he has already been learning a lot from the likes of the Spaniard since his switch to Stamford Bridge in the summer.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, Ampadu said: “You see how professional some like Azpi is for example, how he plays so many games and how he takes care of himself, you just try to learn off a player like that.”
Reflecting on last week’s cup win, he added: “The manager giving you a chance, it gives you confidence that he has trust in you and when you perform you just need show what you can do.”
Azpilicueta will be expecting to feature for Chelsea when the Blues return to Premier League action on Saturday lunchtime with a crunch clash against Everton at Goodison Park.
The Blues, who have been drawn against Arsenal in the semi-finals of the League Cup, are then next in top flight action when they take on Brighton and Hove Albion at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day.
