Mark Lawrenson is expecting to see Arsenal bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League by beating Newcastle United 3-0 at The Emirates on Saturday.
The Gunners head into the game looking to get their campaign back on track after back to back draws against West Ham and Southampton followed their defeat by Manchester United in the Premier League.
That run of results has caused Arsenal to drop down into seventh place in the table and has left Arsene Wenger’s men a staggering 19 points behind leaders Manchester City.
Arsenal host Newcastle United in front of their home fans on Saturday as they look to get back to winning ways in the top flight.
And former Liverpool FC star Lawrenson is fully expecting to see the Gunners claim all three points against the Magpies at The Emirates.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “The story at Newcastle is now as much about what is happening off the pitch as it is on it, because it would appear a deal for a takeover is imminent.
“That is good news, but the trouble is their results have been so bad they are in a situation now where they somehow have to find a way to stop the rot.
“Magpies boss Rafa Benitez has been trying to change things, without success. The outcome is still the same, and it is usually a defeat – they have picked up only one point from their past eight games and are sliding towards the relegation zone.
“As for Arsenal, well they are wobbling a bit with two points from their past three games.
“But, if you are having a hiccup like that, the team you want to play next is the one on a run like Newcastle are – which is why I am going for a Gunners win here.”
Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
The Gunners finished in fifth place last season as they missed out on qualification for this season’s Champions League.
They did, however, beat Chelsea to win the FA Cup for the third time in four seasons last term.
