Mark Lawrenson is backing Manchester United to claim a comfortable 2-0 victory over West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils head into the game having bounced back to winning ways in the Premier League on Wednesday night with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth at Old Trafford.
That victory came after Manchester United were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City in last weekend’s derby clash to leave their title hopes in doubt.
Manchester United are currently second in the table but remain 11 points behind the leaders heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
The Red Devils are clearly the favourites to claim victory at The Hawthorns on Sunday afternoon and Lawrenson is fully expecting to see Manchester United take all three points.
Writing in his column for BBC Sport, Lawrenson said: “I was at Anfield on Wednesday night and West Brom deserved their point against Liverpool. The Baggies were really well set up at the back, as you would expect because this is still Tony Pulis’ team in terms of personnel.
“New West Brom boss Alan Pardew is still waiting for his first win, but his side had chances – Hal Robson-Kanu hit the top of the bar and Ahmed Hegazi should have scored from a corner.
“Salomon Rondon did well too, without really looking like scoring. He held the ball up brilliantly so there is was plenty of reasons for encouragement.
‘But they are at home on Sunday and they have got to press on a little bit – which will suit United when they hit them on the break.”
Manchester United have not won the Premier League title since their famous final triumph under Sir Alex Ferguson back in 2013.
The Red Devils finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season but managed to secure qualification for the Champions League by winning the Europa League in Jose Mourinho’s first season in charge at the club.
The Manchester outfit will take on Sevilla in the last 16 of the Champions League in the new year.
