Michael Owen is tipping Liverpool and Bournemouth to play out a high-scoring game in the south coast on Sunday afternoon.
The Merseyside outfit started December in brilliant form following a return of 32 goals in seven games before a 1-1 stalemate with Everton in the derby last weekend.
Indeed, Liverpool squandered a half-time lead after Dejan Lovren conceded a controversial penalty which Everton striker Wayne Rooney dispatched for his eighth goal of the season.
The 18-time English champions failed to find the back of the net in a 0-0 draw with West Brom mid-week despite Jurgen Klopp starting Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Salah.
Bournemouth were unfortunate to lose 1-0 to Premier League title challengers Manchester United at Old Trafford after Romelu Lukaku scored a first-half winner.
The Cherries came from 3-1 down to win 4-3 against Klopp’s Liverpool side in their meeting at the Vitality Stadium in December 2016.
Former Liverpool striker Owen is backing the two Premier League teams to play out another high-scoring game this weekend.
“Bournemouth won this corresponding fixture 4-3 12 months ago but I don’t think they will find the Reds in as benevolent a mood on Sunday,” Owen told BetVictor.
“The Cherries had their chances at Old Trafford earlier in the week and will be disappointed to have come away with nothing. I expect to see goals at the Vitality Stadium in what promises to be an entertaining game.”
Liverpool haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014.
The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window following a fourth-place finish.
