Chelsea lead Man United in race to sign 26-year-old Brazilian star – report

Chelsea are ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign Juventus defender Alex Sandro, according to reports in England.

The Sun is reporting that the defending Premier League champions remain in pole position to sign the 26-year-old South American despite Manchester United entering the Race to sign the full-back.

The same article states that Sandro has informed Serie A champions Juventus of his desire to leave the Turin club and has made Chelsea his preferred destination ahead of Old Trafford.

Of course, Blues supporters will be aware of the Brazilian left-back after the Premier League title holders were linked with the Juve star throughout the summer transfer window.

Chelsea refused to meet the Italian club’s inflated £80m asking price but Sandro has since made it clear that he wants to move in an attempt to reduce his potential transfer fee.

Manchester United are in the market for a left-back given the continued uncertainty surrounding Luke Shaw’s future at Old Trafford having failed to convince Mourinho of his quality.

The Red Devils boss has been using 32-year-old Ashley Young in a left-back role in recent months in the Manchester United team.

Chelsea have relied heavily on Spanish defender Marcos Alonso at left-back.
