Willian issues Chelsea rallying cry ahead of Southampton clash

Willian has insisted that Chelsea will not give up hope of winning the Premier League title this season despite the large gap to Manchester City.

The Blues are facing a serious uphill struggle in trying to get themselves back into the title race as Pep Guardiola’s Premier League leaders continue their dominant form.

Chelsea were the Premier League’s top performing club last season as they won the English top flight for the second time in three years.

However, the west London side did not have the distraction of European football last term as they focused purely on domestic affairs.

Chelsea must now be classed as outsiders to win the title this season and they currently sit behind Manchester United and Manchester City in the table.

However, Brazilian playmaker Willian has insisted that the west London side will not give up hope of winning the title until it is mathematically over.

Speaking to BT Sport after the 3-1 win over Huddersfield on Tuesday, Willian said: “We know it is difficult.

“We have to keep fighting until the end. We are Chelsea. We are a big club.”

Chelsea will look to make it back to back wins in the Premier League on Saturday when they take on Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues will take on Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League in the new year after the draw was made on Monday.
