Gary Lineker reacts to Romelu Lukaku’s goal in Man United’s 1-0 win at Bournemouth

Gary Lineker felt that Romelu Lukaku was making a point to his critics after the striker didn’t celebrate his goal in Manchester United’s win against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

The Red Devils lost 2-1 to Premier League leaders Manchester City at Old Trafford last weekend as Lukaku’s clumsy defending played a role in both David Silva and Nicolas Otamendi’s goals.

Lukaku had scored two goals in 13 games in all competitions ahead of the visit of Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side mid-week to prompt criticism of the summer signing.

However, the Belgium international made the breakthrough in the first half at Old Trafford with his ninth Premier League goal of the 2017-18 season.

Lukaku rose above the Bournemouth defence to guide a header past Asmir Begovic in the 25th minute at the Theatre of Dreams but the striker opted not to celebrate his goal.

Former Spurs legend Lineker felt that Lukaku was making a point to his critics following his non celebration.

Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Lukaku scores and doesn’t celebrate. Trying to make point? ”

Lukaku moved to Manchester United in a £75m deal from Everton in the summer transfer window despite being linked with a move to Chelsea.

The Belgian forward scored 10 goals in his opening nine games in all competitions before enduring a difficult spell in front of goal.
