Ex-midfielder reacts to Jack Wilshere’s display for Arsenal v West Ham

Glenn Hoddle was very impressed by Jack Wilshere’s performance in midfield for Arsenal during the Gunners’ goalless draw with West Ham United in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The England international made his first start of the season for the north London side in the Premier League as Arsene Wenger opted to reward Wilshere for his fine form in the Europa League.

Wilshere was in solid form for the Gunners at the London Stadium but was unable to help Wenger’s men find the breakthrough against the east London side.

Nevertheless, former England manager and ex-midfielder Hoddle was impressed by what he saw from the 25-year-old during the Premier League clash.

Speaking during BT Sport‘s coverage of the game, Hoddle said: “He was great, he really was.

“He was sharp, and he hardly gave the ball away.

“He just needed better movement around him when he got in and around the penalty box.”

The result was not a good one for Arsenal, as it left them in seventh place in the Premier League table after 17 games of the season.

The Gunners have won just two of their last five Premier League games to leave them a staggering 19 points behind leaders Manchester City in the table.

Wenger’s men will aim to get back to winning ways when they take on Newcastle United at The Emirates in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
