Guillem Balague has hinted Thibaut Courtois could leave Chelsea in the summer but believes his future at Stamford Bridge will depend upon transfers involving other top goalkeepers in Europe.
The Belgium international has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League over the past three seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Indeed, Courtois’ only rival in the English top flight is Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea as the pair continue to attract interest from La Liga.
The 25-year-old has won two Premier League Titles and the League Cup during his three seasons at Stamford Bridge.
Courtois managed to usurp Petr Cech as Chelsea’s number one goalkeeper after he impressed during three seasons at Atletico Madrid under their talismanic manager Diego Simeone.
The Belgian shot stopper won the La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and finished as a Champions League runner-up in Spain to prove his talent in the Spanish top-flight.
However, La Liga expert Balague believes it is too early to make a prediction about Courtois’ future given the uncertainty surrounding other top goalkeepers such as Jan Oblak and Kepa.
“Courtois is waiting to see what happens with everyone else,” Balague told Sky Sports.
“So, for instance, if Kepa goes to Real Madrid, what will happen to Navas? Is Oblak going to go to PSG? It’s definitely going to be an interesting summer for goalkeepers but it is too early to say what will happen with Courtois.”
Chelsea have won two Premier League titles in the past three seasons.
