Gary Cahill fires Chelsea warning at Man City in the title race

Gary Cahill has warned Manchester City that Chelsea are out to catch them in the race for the Premier League title.

The Citizens have been by far the Premier League’s top performing side this season, with Pep Guardiola’s men having only dropped two points in 12 games in the top flight so far this season.

Manchester City are currently eight points clear at the top of the table after having beaten the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal in recent weeks.

Chelsea are currently in third place in the Premier League table and nine points behind the leaders as they look to try and catch Guardiola’s side.

Manchester City have rightly been earning plenty of praise for their fine start to the new season, but Cahill has warned the Citizens that it is still early in the season.

Speaking to Chelsea’s website after the 4-0 win over West Brom on Saturday, Cahill said: “They [Manchester City] have started off full steam ahead and that’s great for them, but we’re not even at Christmas yet, so let’s just hold fire and see how they get on.

“They look fantastic at the moment and we have taken a fair bit of criticism at times this season, but we’ve had three clean sheets on the bounce in the league now, it was a great performance and we’ve got a long way still to go.”

Chelsea will take on Qarabag in the Champions League on Wednesday night as they look to book their place in the last 16 of Europe’s elite club competition.

They will then switch their attentions towards their crunch clash against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday night in the top flight.
