Pat Nevin predicts where Man United will finish thanks to Paul Pogba

Pat Nevin has backed Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba to help Manchester United finish in the Premier League’s top two.

The Red Devils made a brilliant start to the 2017-18 season following six victories and one stalemate in their opening seven games.

Manchester United only managed to earn four points from their last four games in the absence of Ibrahimovic and Pogba.

The former Sweden international hasn’t featured for the Europa League winners this season since signing a new deal with Manchester United.

Club-record signing Pogba suffered a hamstring problem after he scored two goals and made two assists in his opening four Premier League games.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to defending champions Chelsea before the international break to leave the Red Devils eight points off the pace.

However, Ibrahimovic and Pogba returned to the Manchester United team on Saturday and helped to secure a 4-1 win against Newcastle United at Old Trafford.

Former Chelsea winger Nevin believes Manchester United will secure runners-up spot despite coming under pressure from Tottenham Hotspur.

Nevin told Newstalk: “The physical prowess they’ve got to come back in [Pogba and Ibrahimovic], they’ll be fine at home, they’ll get top four. They could even get top two.”

Manchester United are looking to win their first Premier League title since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson got his hands on his final top-flight crown.

The Red Devils won the Europa League and the League Cup in their first season under Mourinho.
