Jurgen Klopp replies when asked about Liverpool FC signing Virgil van Dijk

Jurgen Klopp has refused to comment on talk of Liverpool FC signing Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window.

The Reds were heavily linked with a move to sign the Southampton club captain Van Dijk in the summer but Liverpool failed to get a deal over the line for the highly-rated centre-half.

Liverpool FC were forced to issue a statement apologising to Southampton over their pursuit of Van Dijk after the Saints threatened to report the Reds for an alleged tapping up.

The Merseyside outfit were continued to be linked with a move to sign the former Celtic defender after Van Dijk handed in a transfer request at the Saints.

Liverpool FC have conceded 17 times in 11 games to raise concerns about Jurgen Klopp’s back four as the Reds look to challenge for the Premier League title this term.

The Reds boss has been linked with a move to sign the 26-year-old centre-half in the January transfer window despite the transfer saga in the summer.

“You really expect an answer? What happened in the summer?” Klopp told his media conference on Friday.

Liverpool FC are in fifth place in the Premier League table and four points adrift of Chelsea in the final Champions League qualification spot.

The Reds signed four players in the summer transfer window to improve their squad ahead of a return to Europe’s top competition.
