John Arne Riise singled out Mohamed Salah for special praise after the summer signing scored twice in Liverpool’s 3-0 win against Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
The Reds signed the Egypt international in a £39m deal from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window to improve Jurgen Klopp’s attacking options.
Salah’s arrival prompted some surprise given the African winger’s disappointing six-month spell at Chelsea in 2014 before he was sent out on loan to Fiorentina and AS Roma before he eventually sealed a permanent move to the Italian capital.
However, the 25-year-old has hit the ground running in the Premier League following seven goals in 11 games with his double in a 4-1 win at West Ham United before the international break.
And Salah continued his goal-scoring run with a sumptuous opener after he curled a finish past Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster before he got on the end of Philippe Coutinho’s through pass to make it 2-0.
The Brazil international added a third to seal a comfortable win and extend the home side’s winning run to four games in all competitions.
Former Liverpool defender Riise singled out Salah for praise on Twitter following his man of the match performance.
Riise wrote on the social media website: “Excuse me Mr Salah, but what are you made of? What a player we have!!”
