Ex-striker reacts to Mohamed Salah’s display in Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Southampton

Clinton Morrison praised Mohamed Salah for his brilliant performance at Anfield after the summer signing scored twice in a 3-0 win against Southampton on Saturday.

The Reds raised some eyebrows when Jurgen Klopp sanctioned a £39m deal to sign the former Chelsea winger from Serie A giants AS Roma in the summer transfer window.

Salah struggled to impress at Stamford Bridge under Jose Mourinho and was shipped out on loan to Fiorentina and AS Roma before he completed a permanent move to the Italian capital.

But the Egypt international has effortlessly made the transition to Liverpool from AS Roma after he scored seven goals in 11 Premier League games before the international break.

And Salah broke the deadlock with a brilliant curled finish against the Saints before the African forward finished from close range after Philippe Coutinho’s pass.

Former Republic of Ireland striker Morrison was full of praise for Salah after his dominant display against Southampton.

“It is an unbelievable finish,” Morrison said of Salah’s first goal on Sky Sports.

“That’s the form he is in at the minute. 14 goals in 18 games. The finish was top drawer. You can’t give someone of Salah’s quality so much time because he will punish you.”

Morrison added: “It was Coutinho’s pass that makes it. It was a great run and finish.”

Salah is the Premier League’s top goal-scorer following nine goals in 12 games in the top flight this term.

Liverpool’s signing has netted 14 goals in 18 games in all competitions for the Merseyside outfit in the 2017-18 season so far.

The Reds will host Chelsea in their next Premier League game at Anfield next Saturday.
