Arsenal aren’t underdogs in Saturday’s north London derby at The Emirates, Martin Keown has insisted.
Arsenal suffered a resounding 3-1 loss to Premier League leaders Manchester City before the international break as Pep Guardiola’s side coasted through the Premier League clash.
The Gunners are in sixth place in the table and 12 points adrift of current leaders Manchester City following a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are in a decent position under Mauricio Pochettino but can ill-afford to drop more points in the title race with Manchester City eight points clear at the top of the table.
Spurs finished 11 points above Arsenal in the English top flight last term to end their run of ending up behind the Gunners during the Premier League era.
Former Arsenal defender Keown doesn’t consider Arsene Wenger’s side to be underdogs for the visit of Tottenham on Saturday afternoon.
“This kind of a game is a real leveller,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
“Everything goes out of the window when Arsenal play Tottenham. These are games you have to play with your head, not your heart.
“This game comes at a perfect time for Arsenal to try to reignite their season. They will not be coming into this with any fear.”
Arsenal have won the FA Cup title in three of the past four seasons following a 2-1 win against Chelsea last term.
