Ian Wright has told Manchester United fans that Pep Guardiola wouldn’t have settled for a point at Liverpool like Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho did last weekend.
Manchester United made the short trip to Anfield looking to extend their unbeaten start to the Premier League season to eight games following six victories and one stalemate.
Indeed, the 20-time English champions scored 21 goals in the Premier League ahead of their clash against a Liverpool defence that had conceded 12 times in seven games.
But Mourinho decided to employ a negative approach to the Premier League Clash as Manchester United successfully tamed Liverpool’s attack but offered very little going forward.
The 54-year-old was heavily criticised for Manchester United’s poor performance at Anfield given the attacking talent at his disposal for the Premier League clash.
Speaking on The Debate on Sky Sports on Tuesday night, former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp defended Mourinho’s tactics and pointed out a draw at Anfield is a good result for a team looking to challenge for the Premier League title.
However, ex-Arsenal striker Wright stressed that Manchester United’s rivals Manchester City would have gone all out for the win at Liverpool.
“I don’t think Pep would go and take a point,” Wright told Sky Sports.
Manchester City are sitting two points clear of Manchester United at the top of the table.
