Frank Lampard has revealed that he has been hugely impressed by the strong start Alvaro Morata has made to life at Chelsea since his transfer to the club in the summer.
The 24-year-old was brought to Stamford Bridge from Real Madrid by Antonio Conte after the Blues deemed Diego Costa to be surplus to requirements at the west London club.
Morata has made a strong start to life in England and has showed no signs of struggling to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League, with the striker having scored six goals and made two assists in his first seven top flight appearances.
The forward missed last weekend’s defeat by Crystal Palace with a hamstring problem but he is now available for selection again.
There had been question marks about whether Morata would be able to quickly adapt to the rigours of the Premier League following his move to Chelsea.
However, Lampard has been very impressed by what he has seen from the Spanish forward in recent weeks.
Speaking to BT Sport, Lampard said: “There were only two question marks for me at the start of the season: can he get to grips with the pace of the Premier League and can he be an outright number nine for a club the size of Chelsea?
“I think he’s shown he can on both fronts.”
Chelsea return to Premier League action this weekend when they host Watford as they look to get back to winning ways.
The west London side have lost their last two games in the top flight.
