The arrival of Romelu Lukaku at Manchester United has allowed Henrikh Mkhitaryan to rediscover his top form, according to Danny Higginbotham.
Manchester United managed to wrap up a deal to bring Lukaku to Old Trafford back in July, despite Chelsea having been linked with a move to re-sign the Belgian forward.
Lukaku has hit the ground running at Old Trafford this season and has already scored three goals in three Premier League games to help Jose Mourinho’s men top the Premier League table.
Mkhitaryan, meanwhile, has also been in sublime form so far this season, with the Armenian playmaker having made five assists in three Premier League appearances so far.
And with Manchester United flying high at the top of the Premier League table, former defender Higginbotham feels that the arrival of Lukaku at Old Trafford has helped Mkhitaryan to hit top form.
Writing in his column for the Sun, Higginbotham said: “At United, Lukaku stretches the opposition and creates space in between defence and midfield.
“This provides room for Paul Pogba. And he has now scored two in three games.
“He will get more time on the ball this season and will score a few from outside the box as he will have time — as he proved against West Ham in the first game of season.
“Henrikh Mkhitaryan has had a great start to the season in terms of assists for the same reason.”
Manchester United return to Premier League action after the international break with a crunch clash against Stoke City at the bet365 Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are looking to win the Premier League title for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge back in 2013.
