Gary Neville sends warning to Arsenal players about Arsene Wenger

Gary Neville says Arsene Wenger must reassert his authority at Arsenal in the wake of their 4-0 thrashing by Liverpool.

The Gunners were thoroughly outplayed as they suffered a thrashing at the hands of the Merseyside outfit at Anfield in their most recent Premier League game.

That defeat followed the 1-0 loss to Stoke City and left Wenger’s men down in 16th place in the Premier League Table after three games.

Arsenal will bid to get back to winning ways when they take on Bournemouth at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon as they look to try and get their season back on track.

And former Manchester United defender Neville feels that the next few days will be crucial in how Arsenal’s season pans out.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, Neville said: “It depends what attitude they have when they turn up for training.

“Arsene Wenger’s first day back after international duty is a big one. He has to grip them by the scruff of the neck and somehow inspire them to play how they can.

“Rumours starting circulating this week that the players wanted him out – that’s the biggest issue.”

Despite finding himself under intense pressure towards the end of last season, Wenger committed his future to Arsenal by signing a new two-year contract with the club.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.

The Gunners finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season and won the FA Cup as they missed out on a place in the Champions League this term.
