Arsenal send positive message to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in official statement

Arsenal have wished Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all the best after he completed his transfer to Liverpool on Thursday.

The 24-year-old’s future had been a constant source of speculation throughout the summer after he entered into the final 12 months of his contract at The Emirates.

Chelsea were reported to be interested in signing the midfielder but it was Liverpool who managed to complete a deal for the England international on deadline day.

The move came as a surprise to many, as Oxlade-Chamberlain had played against Liverpool during Arsenal’s 4-0 thrashing by the Reds at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday.

However, Arsenal sent a message to the midfielder via a statement on their official website after the move was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.

The statement read: “We’d like to thank Alex for his contribution to the club and wish him well for the future.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain spent six years at Arsenal and won three FA Cup with the Gunners before his move to Merseyside.

The 24-year-old could make his Liverpool debut when the Reds take on Manchester City in their next Premier League game at The Etihad after the international break on Saturday 9 September.

The Reds are currently second in the Premier League after their thrashing of Arsenal last weekend, having won two and drawn one of their opening three games.
