Jurgen Klopp has refused to shed light on what position the Liverpool manager intends to play Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The England international completed a £40m move to Liverpool from their title rivals Arsenal on transfer deadline day following months of speculation.
Oxlade-Chamberlain has signed a long-term contract with Reds reportedly worth in the region of £120,000 a week to become one of the highest-earners at Anfield.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger used Oxlade-Chamberlain in a wing-back role in his first appearance for the Gunners which has been a common theme over the past six months or so.
The versatile midfielder is reported to have rejected the chance to move to Premier League champions Chelsea in favour of a move to Liverpool.
The 24-year-old is thought to be keen to play in a central midfield role, while Blues manager Antonio Conte was reportedly keen to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain for a wing-back role.
However, Liverpool boss Klopp was quick to highlight Oxlade-Chamberlain’s versatility but refused to assign the new signing to one position.
“I hear a lot of talk about positions but let’s talk about the player; he is someone with really good abilities who always gives everything for his team,” Klopp told Liverpool’s website.
“A player that is positive and willing to take risks to try and make positive things happen.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain was part of the Arsenal team that lost 4-0 to Liverpool in his final Premier League game as a Gunners player last weekend.
Liverpool have already signed AS Roma winger Mohamed Salah, Chelsea teenager Dominic Solanke and Hull City defender Andy Robertson.
RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita will move to Liverpool in a club-record deal next summer.
