Bob Wilson sends message to Arsenal fans about new signings

Bob Wilson has admitted that he was at a loss to explain why both Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac started on the bench for Arsenal against Liverpool last weekend.

The pair both signed for Arsenal early in the summer as Arsene Wenger moved quickly to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.

However, the Frenchman raised eyebrows on Sunday when he opted to start the new boys on the bench as Arsenal suffered a humiliating 4-0 thrashing at the hands of the Reds at Anfield.

It has been a poor start to the season for the north London side, with Wenger having seen his side lose to Stoke City and Liverpool after their 4-3 win over Leicester on the opening day of the campaign.

And former Gunners goalkeeper Wilson admits that he was surprised by Wenger’s decisions last weekend.

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live on Wednesday night, Wilson said: “I had really concerns about why Lacazette and Kolasinac were on the bench [at Liverpool].

“I find that puzzling when both are really good signings.

“The squad is too big. It might be helpful for the squad to be reduced.”

Arsenal return to Premier League action after the international break when they take on Bournemouth at The Emirates.

Wenger is looking to improve the Gunners’ form after they finished in fifth place in the table last season and had to settle for Europa League football at The Emirates this term.
